Holly Helbig, DVM
Dr. Holly Helbig is a graduate of The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a member of The American Veterinary Medical Association, Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, and American Association of Equine Practitioners. She has a special interest in equine lameness and was awarded the Large Animal Student Proficiency Award from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Dr. Helbig is originally from Akron, Ohio, and grew up competing hunter/jumpers. She has an undergraduate degree from Ohio University with a B.S. in Business and Communications. Before vet school, she worked for Merck & Co. as a pharmaceutical representative and part-time as a horse trainer on the "A" circuit in Chagrin Falls, OH. Her love of horses and strong interest in medicine led her to obtain a degree in veterinary medicine.
Currently, Dr. Helbig serves as a veterinary technical advisor for Zoetis, the world's leading animal health company. She works closely with equine veterinarians around the US, providing medical support and training for Zoetis' Equine Division, as well as participating in the development of cutting-edge equine medical solutions.
For the past 10 years, Dr. Helbig was the official show veterinarian for the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, OH, and for the Kentucky Horse Shows at the prestigious Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. In her horse show career, she treated thousands of horses at the highest levels, and her experience on the horse show circuits has made her one of the most respected veterinarians in the country, particularly in the field of equine sports medicine and equine bio-security.
Dr. Helbig also practices veterinary medicine at Hawthorne Veterinary Clinic and operates Hawthorne Hill, a hunter/jumper training facility in Dublin, Ohio. As a professional hunter-jumper herself, she trains riders competing at a national level. Dr. Helbig serves as regional coordinator for the World Champion Hunter Rider organization and is a treating veterinarian for the FEI.
Combining her skills as an equine professional and veterinarian, Dr. Helbig provides a well-rounded service to her clients and patients.
She lives on the Hawthorne Hill property with her partner Alexandre, his two teenagers Matan and Elianne, her beloved mischievous dog named Bad Boy Brady, and 25 horses.
